As a leading distributor of electronic components embarks on a new automated warehouse build in Australia, we are delighted to be working with its key stakeholders to deliver a solution design review for a decentralised SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) on S/4HANA.
The customer is currently finalising the construction of a warehouse in New South Wales (NSW), which will enable the consolidation of several smaller warehouses and, through automation, improve the throughput volume and efficiency of its existing NSW warehouse.
Deciding on decentralised EWM on S/4HANA as the most suitable warehouse management solution for the site, and for future rollouts into other sites across Australia and New Zealand, the business engaged an external software integration company to help produce a blueprint and gap list. Questioning the size and quantity of gaps, and not feeling confident in the design, the proposed solution was rejected.
Based on our on-the-ground EWM and S/4HANA expertise in the region, and our experience in successfully delivering similar solutions across a variety of industries globally, we were asked to help ensure that the correct solution processes have been proposed.
Gathering solution requirements that will help us to ensure that the project is a success, we will be collaborating closely with the customer’s key stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of the business’s existing processes and ways of working at its other sites, establishing what should remain and what isn’t necessary.
We will then be validating the existing solution design, analysing the blueprint and gap list to assess their alignment with both the customer’s individual requirements and EWM and S/4HANA best practices. Making amendments where necessary, we will be producing a revised blueprint and gap list. Once approved by the customer’s key stakeholders, this will form the basis of the implementation of decentralised EWM on S/4HANA, which we would be supporting over the coming months.
Commenting on this latest win, Australian practice lead, Stephen Hackett, said: “We’re excited to be kicking off another great EWM project in Australia that will see us ensuring our customer gets the most benefit out of its new warehouse build. The team here has a brilliant level of EWM expertise and our clients love working with them, and our ability to work on-site and in-person with the business’ key stakeholders will hugely benefit our collaboration as we develop a quality solution design that meets all requirements.”
