Spotlight On: SAP AMS Team Lead

We recently spoke with one of our SAP AMS team leads, Laura Hoey, about how her team helps customers add value to their operations, how she’s seen The Config Team’s SAP AMS function develop since its early days and what she thinks sets us apart from other AMS providers. 

“I look after a team of six AMS consultants. We focus on tickets related to the SAP modules Materials Management (MM), Warehouse Management (WM), Production Planning (PP) and Quality Management (QM), and also offer support for our mobile solution, PreBilt™.  

“Everyone in my team is brilliant at what they do, all bringing a wide variety of skills and experience, coming from both end-user and technical backgrounds. We meet nearly every day to discuss tickets, share knowledge and help each other out. We’ve developed a great relationship with the customers we work with, and they’ve gotten to know us in turn, which benefits the whole team and allows them to deliver a more personal experience. 

“What I enjoy most about my role is how varied it is, you never know if it will be a routine day, or if you have to jump onto a high-priority task, so it’s always interesting. 

“I started working in the SAP field at a previous employer when it implemented the solution, doing both change requests and support. I like working with SAP because it presents a real challenge. It appeals to me how integrated all its modules are, supporting a whole business including the end-to-end supply chain. It’s so big that you can’t ever know everything, and you’re always learning. 

“When I first joined The Config Team back in 2011 it was a smaller team than it is now, and I have had the opportunity to spend time and develop my skills in different areas of the business as it’s grown. I initially did SAP WM consulting services and small changes across several customers. I then moved into the product team, implementing and supporting PreBilt, before then becoming a team lead and joining AMS, where I’ve stayed ever since. 

“Being in AMS since its early days, I’ve seen it develop over time into the large business area that it is today. It’s completely different from consulting and product, with its own set of challenges, and we’ve very much taken on feedback, listened and learned with each new AMS customer to establish best practice. To this day we’re still undergoing constant internal improvements to ensure that our AMS consultants are happy and that we’re continuously delivering the best service for our customers. 

“I think what sets The Config Team’s SAP AMS offering apart from other providers is the quality of its people.
