As the demand for specialist support in SAP Security & Authorisations (S&A) continues to rise, we spoke with various members of our technical SAP Application Management Services (AMS) team who specialise in S&A. They shared insights into their diverse backgrounds and extensive experience in the field, highlighting the importance of SAP S&A in today’s business environment.
Senior AMS Consultant, Will Dunkerley, has nearly 20 years of experience in SAP S&A, consulting for a diverse range of customers across many industries, including defence, banking, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, aerospace, tobacco, and facilities management. He’s also worked with SAP directly, teaching their security courses in the UK and throughout Europe. On The Config Team’s S&A team, he commented: “I joined The Config Team in April 2022 to support the growing S&A requirements of our AMS customers. Over the past few years, we have worked very hard to recruit S&A team members who are not only technically skilled but also great to work with. We have an excellent mix of technical, organisational, and personal skills, bringing lots of energy and optimism to our work and taking great pride in consistently delivering quality solutions to our customers.”
AMS Consultant, Laurel Christer, joined The Config Team in February 2023. Before that, she worked with one of our largest customers as its S&A lead, so she was already very familiar with The Config Team, its ways of working, and people. The move from an end user to a consultancy has been successful for everyone involved, with Laurel adding: “I have over five years of experience in S&A management, starting with a global authorisations template rollout and further developing my skills from there. I’ve gained extensive experience in using risk analysis tools to manage and resolve segregation of duties risks, as well as managing complex authorisation concepts, GRC, and SoX compliance. I very much enjoy being part of the SAP S&A team here at The Config Team. There’s a high demand for security within SAP, allowing me to work with a wide variety of great customers.”
Sam Wilding started his career at The Config Team on the support helpdesk. After completing his IT infrastructure apprenticeship, he was seconded to the S&A team and has since been immersed in best practice methodology: “Starting on the helpdesk has been beneficial for my development as I’m already familiar with the processes and infrastructure of many of our customers, plus I understand both the functional and technical areas of the SAP landscape, which helps me triage issues quickly and accurately.”
Helen Jones joined The Config Team in January 2024 after seven years in customer service management. She has a deep interest in IT and security and is currently completing a distance learning degree in cybersecurity alongside her current role with The Config Team: “Working with the S&A team offers a fantastic opportunity to combine my interests and skills. It’s great to learn from highly experienced AMS consultants who not only do things the right way but also understand why, and applying my customer service background to deliver a positive experience across all client interactions.”
