Delivering SAP Enterprise Structure Changes

We’re delighted to be embarking on an exciting new engagement, supporting our customer as it looks to enhance its operational efficiency and future readiness with the expansion of its SAP enterprise structure and a series of additional improvements to its SAP landscape.

We have worked with the customer, a world-leading manufacturer of ejection seats and safety-related equipment for aviation, on several previous successful projects. This includes the implementation of PreBilt™, which has significantly increased efficiency across its operations, improving visibility of stock, reducing manual and paper-based processes and improving ease of use for operatives.

To bring its SAP landscape up to date and future-ready, the customer is currently migrating from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. Opting for a brownfield implementation approach has prompted a review of the company’s current enterprise structure to ensure it adequately supports its present and future business requirements. Despite operating across three locations in the UK, the existing setup includes only one plant and one warehouse.

In early 2024, we were brought in to conduct a feasibility study and make recommendations for next steps aligned with both SAP best practice and the customer’s needs. Our recommendations included completing the S/4HANA upgrade before making changes to the SAP enterprise structure, which we proposed to be two plants and three warehouses.

As the customer is nearing completion of its S/4HANA upgrade project, it is now ready to embark on our recommended enterprise structure changes. We also identified several additional improvements during our requirements gathering phase which the customer will now also be looking to implement, including enhancements to its PreBilt solution and changes in SAP to enable inter-site stock transfers and Available to Promise (ATP).

We are now embarking on a detailed assessment and proof of concept (PoC) phase, which will include several deliverables:

  • Conducting a comprehensive assessment for enabling inter-site stock transfers and ATP requirements.
  • Delivering a PoC in the customer’s sandbox environment to demonstrate our recommended enterprise structure changes.
  • Playback of our high-level design to key customer stakeholders and providing documentation and recommendations for subsequent phases of work.
  • Reviewing enhancement requirements for the existing PreBilt mobility solution.
  • Agreeing on strategy and approach for inventory transfer and master data updates.
  • Establishing the next steps for moving forward with the detailed design and implementation phases of work together.

Commenting on this latest project, our Head of Digital Supply Chain Practice, Rachel Greenwood, said: “We are thrilled to be working with our brilliant customer on this exciting project which will truly set its SAP landscape up for long-term business success. With our extensive SAP and S/4HANA experience and in-depth knowledge of the customer’s systems and processes, we’ve already built a strong foundation for a fantastic end result which we can’t wait to deliver.”
