Streamlining Kitting in SAP

We are delighted to be working on a new project with a leading wholesaler of homeware products, providing our expert consultancy services to deliver kitting and bundling capabilities into its SAP system, enabling granular visibility of kits and bundles and improving the ease of its business-to-consumer (B2C) processes.

The company has been utilising SAP modules including Warehouse Management (WM) and Sales and Distribution (SD) on ECC for several years, with a third-party e-commerce platform to support its B2C web sales which is interfaced with SAP via IDocs. It was experiencing some difficulty surrounding the lack of visibility and accurate pricing of individual items in SAP when they were purchased together as part of one parent order. It was also reliant on Excel spreadsheets for accurate updated bundle pricing, which would then need manual overriding in SAP. We were asked to assist with overcoming these challenges.

The wholesaler was looking to handle all kitting and bundling from within SAP and rely on it as the single source of truth for stock levels and pricing, thus eliminating the need for spreadsheets to convert data from the e-commerce platform. This would also help facilitate a smoother returns process that is reflective of bundle price as opposed to full price, thus avoiding over-refunding.

Beginning with a discovery phase, our expert SAP supply chain consultants got to know the business, its internal team, processes and solution requirements.

We will now be moving forward with the SAP WM and SD configuration and development needed to deliver the solution, utilising standard SAP best practices where possible to ensure that kits and bundles sold via the e-commerce platform are visible in SAP at a granular level, with individual item prices represented accurately for both outbound and returns processes.

As part of delivering on project requirements, we will also be performing system integration testing and providing support for regression and user acceptance testing to ensure that the solution is working as it should, as well as hypercare following going live.

Commenting on this latest win, our head of sales, Paul Fraser, said: “We are excited to be kicking off this interesting project with a new customer, which we’re confident will vastly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its end-to-end sales and returns processes in SAP, making life easier for its end users and consumers. Our years of experience in making developments and configurations in WM and SD, and great knowledge of SAP’s interfacing with third-party platforms, make us the perfect partner to deliver on requirements, and we can’t wait to get started.”
