Discovering the Benefits of EWM

Our experienced EWM consultants have been working closely with three of our customers, a sports car producer, luxury car maker, and leading cosmetics company, conducting feasibility studies to help them discover how SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) could benefit their operations.

Utilising SAP Decentralised Warehouse Management (DWM) at its main distribution centre, the cosmetics company had made few improvements to the solution for 12 years and was anticipating a global EWM migration programme to bring its operations up to date. Meanwhile, the sports car producer was operating SAP Inventory Management (IM) and Warehouse Management (WM) on ECC6 at its UK production site, and considering its future SAP strategy to pre-empt the end of support for ECC6 as of 2027, looking at SAP EWM and S/4HANA. The luxury car maker was also utilising SAP WM, and considering the move to EWM as part of continued system development in support of business growth and new product development.

We were asked to conduct feasibility studies to support these planned migrations based on our SAP EWM expertise and long history of successful EWM projects across a variety of industries as well as wider S/4HANA knowledge.

Reviewing the current solution architecture and ‘as is’ processes at the sites, we worked closely with the internal IT teams to understand their future requirements. This allowed us to deliver in-depth reports and playback sessions with our recommendations on the most appropriate deployment, migration, and hosting options that will support the customers’ overall business development plans and roadmaps. We were also able to advise the businesses on where the migration to SAP EWM will add value to their operations, and how ways of working on their sites will change and improve.

Commenting on these recent feasibility study projects, our head of sales, Paul Fraser, said: “It has been great to work with customers both existing and new, setting them on the right course at the beginning of their EWM migration journeys.

“We are proud to have one of the biggest pools of EWM talent in the industry, with our consultants boasting an enviable degree of both operational and technical knowledge learned through decades of experience, which made us the perfect partner to ensure that the customers selected the right solution for their requirements now, and in the future.”
