Optimise Warehousing and Transportation Operations with SAP EWM and TM

We’re excited to be working on a brilliant project with a new customer, which will see us implementing SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and Transportation Management (TM) for one of New Zealand’s leading grocery companies.

The business operates multiple distribution centres (DCs) across New Zealand. After making the transition from ECC to S/4HANA, it was looking to implement SAP EWM and TM and introduce SAP Business Networks for Logistics (BNL), to better service its stores and suppliers.

By implementing EWM and TM, the company was aiming to streamline its warehouse operations and enhance its transportation planning and execution, improving its customer service levels by providing accurate and timely information about their shipments, as well as faster order fulfilment and delivery. Meanwhile, through the introduction of BNL, it was looking to improve and modernise its ability to collaborate with other carriers whilst also providing real-time visibility into its own transportation network.

We were asked to deliver the project based on the EWM and TM expertise of our team in the region, coupled with our experience in delivering large-scale SAP implementations for high-profile customers globally. Operating both on-site and remotely as appropriate, we will be rolling the modules out into a pilot site initially, before implementing them across all the business’s DCs.

Our Australia team will initially be collaborating closely with the customer’s internal team to gain a deep understanding of its existing warehouse and transportation processes and identify areas for improvement across all sites, before developing a full solution blueprint design.

The SAP EWM, TM and BNL solutions will be expertly configured to meet the specific requirements of the business while still falling in line with SAP best practices, this will include master data setup, system integration and customisations. We will also be advising on the migration of the customer’s existing warehouse and transportation data to help ensure a smooth transition with limited disruption.

To ensure all users are comfortable with such a large organisational change, we will be adopting a train-the-trainer approach so that the business can successfully carry out end-user training internally on a long-term basis.

Commenting on this latest win, Australian practice lead, Stephen Hackett, said: “We are delighted to be working with this fantastic customer on what is sure to be a brilliant project, delivering the benefits of SAP modules like EWM, TM, and now BNL to its operations. We can’t wait to get started!

“We have an amazing team on the project with a wealth of knowledge and experience in implementing EWM and TM. This major win is a huge testament to their talent and shows just how much The Config Team Australia has grown and developed in just two years.”
