PreBilt for EWM – Q4 2022 Release

With increasingly more companies looking to SAP EWM as their warehouse management system, we have been listening to customer feedback to enhance our mobile solution, as we continually look to optimise EWM for customers. As a result, we are excited to deliver our latest release of PreBilt™ for EWM, our rapid-deployment SAP barcode scanning solution for the SAP supply chain.

Packed full of new innovations, in addition to functional enhancements, all new features have been designed to improve the experience for users, with some of the key developments highlighted below:

Voice Integration

Following customer requests for a voice-enabled solution that is simple to implement, maintain and support, a new framework has been introduced in the latest release of PreBilt for EWM to enable easy integration with voice-systems. The innovation has been designed to reduce development requirements and provide a flexible framework as part of the standard solution, which enables customers to be operational with voice-operated processes in short timeframes.

Voice technology allows operators to provide inputs by voice, reducing manual data entry, increasing productivity and reducing errors. Ideal for use in a range of processes where hands-free operation is beneficial, such as picking and plant maintenance, voice technology allows the operator to focus solely on relevant tasks without viewing a screen. This results in enhanced task awareness, helping to improve health and safety practices.

The PreBilt framework is hardware agnostic, which allows flexible integration to a variety of voice solutions, enabling customers the ability to utilise the functionality for identified processes that will benefit from the increased productivity gains of a hands-free operation.

New functionality has also been added to further streamline receiving by HU efficiencies including:

Advanced delivery Item receiving

This functionality enables the ability for an operator to call up a list of all delivery items for receipt based on the ASNs in scope. This is beneficial during the receiving process if a product is not easily identifiable, as the list provides details about each product including description, EAN, and original, open, and already receipted quantities.

On-demand packing conversions

This feature delivers the ability to instantly display the packing conversion ratios when a user changes the Unit of Measure (UoM) during receiving. Coupled with the existing feature allowing different product images by product number/UoM, a user can more easily identify, select, and then pack based upon the appropriate UoM.

Unified Search

Standard EWM transactions require the operator to select a different receiving option based on the type of document reference available for receipt, such as purchase order, delivery number, or ASN. The new unified search functionality enables a single search option that covers all these document types, displayed in real-time, which cuts down time during the initial steps of receiving. Barcode scanning is fully supported as standard.

Augmented Reality Scanning

Integrating with third party scanning engines, PreBilt for EWM has the capability to scan multiple barcodes simultaneously and populate the relevant fields in the transaction, offering significant time savings. The technology also clearly identifies if barcode information has not been captured, through the overlay of coloured highlights, which marks all successful scans green, while identifying any missed barcodes in red so they can be quickly and easily re-scanned. The use case most commonly requested by customers has been to utilise this technology for serial number capture, but it also offers the flexibility to extend the scanning capability to additional processes.

PreBilt for EWM is a rapid-deployment barcode scanning solution that delivers an enhanced UI for executing supply chain processes on a mobile device. Deployed in days, the intuitive user interface makes tasks quicker and easier to execute, while the direct connection to SAP ensures all data is updated in real-time for end-to-end supply chain visibility.
